Keep useful information from getting scattered.
Pulse gives you one place to capture notes, copied text, useful reference material, and spoken thoughts before they disappear into browser tabs, voice memos, screenshots, or messages to yourself.
Each saved piece of information is called a Skip. Capture it now, add a simple label if that helps, and find it later with search or tags.
Your Pulse Vault is separate from the rest of your Drive.
Pulse works with its own Pulse Vault and the Pulse files you use with the app. It does not scan or browse the rest of your Google Drive.
First Use
Quick Start
1. Open Pulse
Open the app and connect Google Drive if Pulse asks you to.
2. Save something useful
Select the + control, then type or paste a note, instruction, idea, or reference you want to keep.
3. Add a tag if it helps
A tag is a simple label such as HOME, WORK, RECIPES, or VACATION.
4. Save the Skip
Pulse keeps a local copy and sends it to your Pulse Vault when Google Drive is connected.
5. Find it later
Search for words you remember or choose a tag to browse that topic.
Your organization does not have to be perfect when you first capture something.
Capture
Saving a Skip
A Skip is one saved piece of information. It can be copied text, a personal note, useful reference material, an AIR transcription, or anything else worth keeping.
- Select the + control.
- Type or paste the information you want to keep.
- Add one or more tags if they will help you find it later.
- Save the Skip.
- When connected, give Pulse a moment to finish its normal Google Drive sync.
Organize
Using Tags
Tags are simple labels that group related Skips. Start with broad topics that make sense to you, such as HOME, RECIPES, WORK, VACATION, CAR, or PROJECT.
You can place a smaller topic under a broad one when that is useful. For example, VACATION might include CHICAGO and PACKING. You do not need to build a complicated filing system or add every possible tag.
How to add a tag
- Open the tag control on a Skip.
- Select an existing tag or type a new one.
- Add another tag if it provides useful context.
- Select Save Tags.
Recall
Finding Something Later
- Search: Enter a word or phrase from the information you remember.
- Tags: Select a topic in the side panel to see related Skips.
- Smaller topics: Choose a tag beneath the main topic to narrow the list.
- Archive: Keep something without leaving it in your everyday view.
- All: Return to the main view when you are done browsing a topic.
Your Files
Pulse Vault & Google Drive
The Pulse Vault is the dedicated Pulse folder in your own Google Drive. Pulse creates or finds this folder and stores your Skips there as readable files.
Your information is not trapped inside Pulse. The files already saved in your Drive remain there if you disconnect Pulse.
Limited Drive access: Pulse works with its own Pulse Vault and the Pulse files you use through the app. Pulse does not scan or browse your general Google Drive.
Working Text
Pulse Pad
Pulse Pad is a persistent plain-text working area. Use it to paste something temporarily, write a rough list, clean up text, or hold notes while you work.
- Open Pulse Pad with the pencil control.
- Your text remains there until you clear it.
- If you open it while viewing a topic, it can keep that topic as context.
- Create Skip saves the Pad text through the normal Skip workflow and leaves the Pad text in place.
- Clear Pulse Pad removes the Pad content immediately.
Pulse Pad is a plain-text workspace, not a rich-text document editor.
Voice Capture
Pulse AIR
AIR is Pulse's voice-capture and transcription feature. Record a thought and Pulse turns it into text that can be saved as a Skip.
- Open AIR and tap the large record control.
- Speak normally.
- Stop when you are finished. Recordings stop automatically at five minutes.
- After a successful transcription, Pulse saves the text as a new AIR Skip.
One AIR is charged only when transcription succeeds. Audio is retained temporarily while Pulse processes or retries it; Pulse does not store that audio recording in your Google Drive.
Subscription plans restore the subscription AIR allowance for each billing period. Purchased AIR remains available until used. Pulse uses subscription AIR before purchased AIR.
Reuse
AI Context Export
AI Context Export creates a focused text file from the Skips and tags you choose. It gives you a smaller, relevant set of information to use separately with an AI tool.
- Open Export.
- Select a main tag.
- Optionally select a smaller tag.
- Choose whether archived Skips should be included.
- Create the export.
- Download it or use the copy saved in your Pulse Vault.
You can separately provide that file to ChatGPT, Gemini, NotebookLM, Claude, or another AI tool if you choose.
Pulse does not automatically send your export to an AI service. You decide whether and where to provide the file.

Full Vault Download
Open Export and choose Download full vault to download your complete available Pulse vault as a file for your own use or reference.

Simple Fixes
Troubleshooting
Something looks stuck or out of date
- Refresh Pulse.
- Give the Vault a moment to finish loading and syncing.
Still not right
- Use the normal Pulse control to disconnect or sign out of the Google connection.
- Reconnect or sign back in.
- Allow the Vault to load again.
A Skip has not synced yet
- Confirm that the device has an internet connection.
- Leave Pulse open briefly after reconnecting.
- Refresh if the status does not update.
AIR did not finish
- Confirm connectivity.
- Reopen or refresh Pulse.
- A pending AIR recording should remain available for the normal retry process when recovery is possible.

Do I need a subscription to use text capture?
No. AIR is the paid voice-transcription service; the core text-capture experience is not a monthly software rental.
